Let me begin that I have never bought a silencer before and have been stopped by what appears to be a very complicated process. However Silencer Shop has made it super easy.
I got an ad that they are waiving the $200 tax stamp. So, I called them and said I wanted a can for my Glock 21 45 ACP. They handle all the paperwork. Talked with customer service guy who led me through the Process.
I bought a Dead Air Mojave 45 can. I paid for it, and a "Single Shot Trust" ($24.95). They sent me the paperwork and filled it out mostly over the internet. Simple and clean. This morning I went to Norcross Gun and Range Club, nearest FFL III dealer.
A small machine took my fingerprints and a photo from my phone. No line waiting and the staff helped me make it easy. Filled out an online simple form with the ATF.
Only cost was the silencer, the $24.95 Trust, shipping and sales tax. All any accessories necessary are included.
My silencers (I also bought a Q Jumbo Shrimp for my TIKKA 6.5 Creedmoor) should be here in less than a week. I'll pick them up at the Norcross Gun and Range Club. Apparently there are kiosks are all over the place. Simple!
I have heard that if you put your silencer in your own name and you lend your silencer to a friend, could be a felony. Better with a Trust.
I don't know if there are better ways to buy silencers, but I like simple, clean and fast! And you don't need to wait for the Big Beautiful Bill comes into law on January 1. I am sure there will be a waiting line when it hits. Do it now!
