Just out of curiosity, how frequently do you change the recoil springs in your pistols?

I just did a full respring on my S&W 686 and I personally will never do it again. There is one little devil spring that was a monstrous pain right in the butt. I finally had to take it to a smith to fit it for me. As for all of my other handguns, practically all of them have been done piecemeal while changing them for different weight etc. Not a one of them is even close to 2K now, so 10K is a long way off.

Just on a SD9VE. Replaced an 8 lb recoil spring with a 10 lb spring for lower recoil. Switched them back after stories of slide damage and voided warranties surfaced. I may revisit as new technology is arriving in the form of spring/shock absorbers. ARs use them to great effect.

Once. I changed out the recoil spring for a slightly heavier one in a 1911, just because. I don’t shoot my pistols as much as rifles really though. Definitely hadn’t put 10k rounds through it.

I had to do that myself when I went to target loads. When I got done, I swapped it back.
