What my micro compact can do from a bench versus from a draw

From a bench, my micro compact can group around three inches at 25 yards. From a standing draw...under pressure or in less than ideal conditions, those groups open up. It is a reminder that range performance does not always translate directly to real world shooting.

Real practice means shooting from the kind of positions you’d actually use, not just trying to hit bench numbers that don’t really mean anything out in the real world.

Of course you need to replicate real world usage. That means drawing from concealment, shooting from various positions, shooting with either hand, and reloading with either hand under pressure. However, the bench serves a VITAL role. Your sighting systems need to be regulated to perfection for use in less than ideal circumstances. The confidence inspired and the reassurance that your firearm will hit exactly where it is pointed lets you know that any increase in group size is related to shooter induced error, and can be corrected. The bench is your friend.

My P365? From a bench, it'll print golf balls all day long. But standing and moving? Yeah, that's a different story...more like a shotgun pattern, really. Those bench numbers, I figure are mostly for gun reviewers, not what actually happens in the real world.

How do you like the 365? I am contemplating buying one to replace my G42 as my backup piece. Just weighing which would be a better weapon for that job.

P365 feels like a good upgrade from G42..with more capacity, same concealment but just more forgiving under stress.
