any recommendations for a first fishing trip with my kid

I'm planning to take my 5-year-old fishing for the first time and I'm feeling a bit lost. I don't have any fishing experience myself, but I think it could be a great adventure for us. I've seen some kids' fishing rods and tackle at local stores, and I'm curious if those are decent for beginners. What's a simple setup you guys usually recommend for an outing like this? I just want something fun and easy that we can enjoy together.

Some ponds are open for paid fishing, most are stocked and almost guaranteed to catch fish. Being new and young its important that they catch fish. As far as equipment, yes just the simplest and cheapest is better, they get broke being used my kids. Keep it fun!! Good luck and be sure you post your outcome, kids like that also.
