If you’re using a red dot sight on your carry pistol or defensive carbine, I’d love to hear what optic size and mounting height have worked best for you over time. Are you going for full co-witness, a lower sight picture, or have you decided to ditch the irons completely? Share your gun model, optic, mounting setup, and backup sight configuration so we can compare our real-world setups!

On my G19, I’ve got a Trijicon RMR Type 2 with a 3.25 MOA dot milled right into the slide. I’m running suppressor height irons for a lower 1/3 co-witness setup. I appreciate having the irons as a backup but 99% of the time, I’m just looking at the dot. That RMR has been incredibly reliable for me. For my home defense AR, I’m using an Aimpoint PRO on a standard mount which also gives me that lower 1/3 co-witness with my backup iron sights. At this point, the battery life is so impressive that I could probably ditch the backup irons but they’re sticking around for now....
