The shooting drill I invented out of boredom

I started doing reload races against myself with a timer, I was trying to know how fast can I empty a mag, reload, and get back on target. It is not a formal drill, just something to stay engaged during practice. It turned out it actually improved my reloads significantly...the best training comes from just making practice interesting however you can..

Sounds like a nice little exercise. I did something very similar years back when I was carrying a revolver EDC. Speed loaders are a whole different animal to work with when running timing drills. I spent quite a while getting the hang of running 7 rounds, reloading and running 7 more with any real speed. (686 7 round S&W) but with lots of practice I got pretty good at it. The good thing was you could use snap caps, so there was a big saving on ammo lol.

Running speed loaders fast is definitely its own skill. Once it clicks though, revolver reloads start looking pretty slick!

Sounds like that goofy race thing we did. Run 50 yards, freeze, fire until you hit the target, duck walk twenty yards, jump up, and repeat. The winner got a box of bullets. You could NOT continue until the egg went splat! Targets were at 10 or 15 yards.

Magnum Force was a sort of prelude to my working at "speed loading" a revolver. I wanted to be a slick Rick and impress with skills!

I worked it out with my Taurus Judge. The .45LC work ok but the .410's just are too long and wobbly do it with any real speed.

They don't work with the .410's, no recess on the casing to clip into

I'm thinking (God help us!) swaged 308/30-06+ brass+moon clip. Pity brass is insanely high, and finding components is damn near impossible.

Then stick a 10" barrel on it and of course a larger cylinder and go crazy! I would send it over to Scott at Kentucky Ballistics to test it out thought. He is brave enough to try it out lol
