What popular gun gear still has problems that manufacturers haven't really addressed?

99% of the lubricants, half the aftermarket mini-14 magazines, and most anything Walmart sells.

Gun oil is $13.95 for 1 ounce in a "needle dispenser" bottle. Mobile1 full synthetic 10W-30 is about $8 for a 32 ounce quart at Wal-Mart.

My Grandpa always used Marvel Mystery oil on his shot gun and deer rifle. Those two were always slick and ready to go, and he had those things longer than I had been around. My cousin has them today (about 30 years later) and he still uses them and uses the same Marvel oil on them.

Marvel was good stuff. My dad used it, specifically the hydraulic tool lube.
Smelled amazing on a hot barrel. Hard to get here, so I use Castrol 20 Wt.

There is another name for Marvel Mystery Oil: Dexron 3 Automatic Transmission Fluid. About $4 per quart, but my 2 ounce can of MMO still has is not empty yet after 35 years. A drop goes a long way.
