What Should You Avoid Wearing at the Range?

So, I'm trying to get a better handle on what to wear when I head out to the range. I'm not talking about the full-on tactical setup, just what regular folks throw on for a day of shooting.

I've been out a few times lately and noticed some patterns in what people wear. For example, I found that camo tends to stick out, which feels a bit odd, especially when you're just doing drills or plinking with a rifle. I mean, if you're in the woods, cool, but at the range? Seems a little much, right?

I've been sticking to more neutral stuff — like jeans, a plain shirt, and some sturdy boots. I want to be comfortable and safe (definitely no sandals), but I also don't want to look like I'm preparing for a mission.

Am I making too big a deal out of this? What do you all think? Any experiences or suggestions? I'd love to hear what you avoid wearing at the range.

It depends on the purpose of my range visit. For instance, if I'm going to practice self-defense target distances, I go dressed the way I would be dressed on a normal day of work or a normal day when I'm out and around town.

Admittedly, when I'm at work, I wear a long sleeve button up with a tie. So, while it may sound odd, I actually set aside at least three or four range days out of the year to go to the range in a button up and a tie. This way, I learn to be comfortable and rehearsed when defending myself and those around me, regardless of what I'm wearing.

Just a thought, and just one example.
