I've been planning to make a day of going to one of the DNR gun ranges. It's a bit of a trip from here in Elberton but the ranges look like they are well designed and maintained. Most of the shooting here requires a club membership and all of them have long waiting lists.I actually have 2. Deadcenter (indoor, 25 yds) on Buford Hwy and the DNR range at Wilson Shoals (outdoor, pistol and rifle ranges, 25 to 100 yds, free w/ a GA fishing license, over 65 the have a unlimited GA Lifetime Sportsman License. Shoot for free.
Not the Wilson Shoals range. I don't know if others do.I've been planning to make a day of going to one of the DNR gun ranges. Does Wilson Shoals have a place where I could shoot pistol at 50 yards?I actually have 2. Thanks for info @blazermark , that is about what I expected. I'll make it over there some day to find out.Wilson Shoals has 25 yard pistol and 100 yard rifle. the two ranges are separate (but next to each other).
I have shot the rifle range and set target stand at 50 yards for some old black powder rifles i was trying to get on paper - no problem with that.
There are RSO there, and they are serious (but NOT jerks) about their job, so i wouldn't assume you could. Have to ask rifle RSO if its possible.
I typically go up there in the middle of the week in the AM and its pretty quiet and chill.
