I’ve got a chance to buy some second-hand guns at a fair price. They’re not exactly showpieces. What’s the first thing you’d look into before deciding?

When I’m checking out a used gun, I take my time working the action slowly and listen for any rough spots. If it cycles smoothly, that usually tells me the previous owner took decent care of it.

For me, it’s all about how a gun feels not just how it looks. I like to cycle it slowly, listen for any odd noises, and check the lockup carefully. Scratches and scuffs don’t bother me much but if something feels off mechanically, that’s a red flag.
