I hit an oil can at maybe 200 yards with a 10/22, I hit a torso target at 500, but I'm pretty sure the guy would have been a soprano instead of dead.

Both those were pre-cellphone days, so if you got pix, show them off!

Taylor's Arms Sharps clone "Quigley Down Under" 45-70 with metallic silhouette sights. 420 grain spire point cast lead bullets. 200 yards after getting 100 yard zero. 367 yard target, same loads, lowest shot is the visible portion of the target because of a low dirt berm in front of the target. Range officer was surprised when I hit the 200 yard target, amazed when I hit the 367 five shots in a row. I might not be able do it again, but I did once. I can't rotate the picture upright.

Expand this photo, look real hard up top over the numbers. The top target is 704 yards. I used to shoot my M41/B Swedish sniper rifle at vintage matches here, Henry County Gun Club, Paris, TN. We drew straws to see who took the first shot of the match at the farthest target, guess who lost. Anyway my rifle holds zero quite well so I got prone, sighted and pulled the trigger. A second later I heard a hit. I earned some bragging rights.

Know what's crazier? on the torso shot, I was using a lead cap, Federal lightning! That was all I could afford as a teenager. 75 cents a box of 50.lol
