What’s your favorite gun oil for regular use? I’m on the hunt for something that not only lubricates well but also protects against corrosion. Would love to hear what works well for you!

Protective oils: Kroil or Eezox Bore Cleaning: BoreTech Eliminator for copper then ThorroFlush & ThorroClean for Carbon

20Wt. Castrol synthetic for all my protective needs, Dry moly spray for stuff that is exposed to burned powder like blow back 22s and gas pipe ARs. the Castrol NEVER turns to shellac like many other lubes, even after a decade and for the price of a bottle, I can get a quart. Benchwood Casey used to have a product called "Sheath" for guns going into long storage. I can swear by it! it saved several of my guns after an undetected water leak!

I've been using Eezox for a couple of years now and find it better than anything else I've used in the past several decades, and that's been quite a number of different products.

With or without engine detergents?

With or without engine detergents?
Without. I use a mix of Marvel Miracle Oil and transmission fluid for bore cleaner, sometimes just straight kerosene, depending on the ammo. fortunately or unfortunately, all the corrosive junk is gone.

Eezox for short term protection. For long term i have found WD40's corrosion spray to be excellent. Goes on as a spray then dries as a wax like product. Very similar to chain wax.

Marvel mystery oil and Non mercron type of tranny fluid work well as a base oil if you want to play around with making you own. Tap Magic will help keep the oil in place and most any engine assemply lube will add to the slickness in small amounts.

I have been using Militec-1 gun oil for a while and think it is about the best out there. It's not cheap, but it hangs around quite a while so a little goes a long way. Only thing is that it isn't great at cleaning.

So they don't make it anymore?
No, they call it "barricade' now. Never used it since I discovered the Castrol.
I just checked an SKS I have hanging on the wall, 7 years, no rust yet.
