What's the story behind your first handgun? Do you still have it, or did you pass it on? I'd love to hear how you feel about it now, and if you have any photos or funny memories to share!

My first handgun was a High Standard Sentinel .22, 9 shot revolver, 6" barrel. I bought it while in college, and mostly used it for plinking. Good gun, but I wanted better, and sold it to a friend for money to buy an S&W. Looking at what they sell for now, I probably should have kept it.

My first handgun was a Smith & Wesson Model K22. I was 15 and it was a birthday present. I loved that thing. I wish I had it today. When I joined the Navy at 19 I left it at home and a few years later my family home burned down, and it was destroyed.

Mine was a Ruger Black Hawk 3 screw with a 9" barrel and a 22 magnum cylinder I inherited from my dad. I must have about a million rounds through it by now.

My first handgun was a 1911 Colt. My father paid $35 for it and it was a treasure to me. I was just 16. I had just gotten my driver's license and was driving my father's brand new 1959 Chevy Biscayne. I kept it underneath my driver's seat. I picked up a few "friends" and was driving around with them. I had shown it to them and put it back under my seat. Several were in the back seat.

When they left, my gun was gone. Someone reached from the back seat, reached under me and took it. I was shattered.
