I still have the receipt. My first was a S&W model 66-2 with a 6" barrel, my dad finally agreed to let me have a pistol. Purchased it from Chuck's Firearms back in 6/25/1982.
That tells you how old I am.![]()
That was my first handgun also. Was working at Western Auto in Macon while attending high school. Ended giving it to my mother-in-law for protection as she lived alone in rural South Georgia. That was almost 50 years ago. I picked up its twin on ODT a couple of years ago. Good memories with that old revolver, squirrel hunting and rat shooting at the dump.My first handgun was a High Standard Sentinel .22, 9 shot revolver, 6" barrel. I bought it while in college, and mostly used it for plinking. Good gun, but I wanted better, and sold it to a friend for money to buy an S&W. Looking at what they sell for now, I probably should have kept it.
Narrows the definition of "friends", doesn't it.My first handgun was a 1911 Colt. My father paid $35 for it and it was a treasure to me. I was just 16. I had just gotten my driver's license and was driving my father's brand new 1959 Chevy Biscayne. I kept it underneath my driver's seat. I picked up a few "friends" and was driving around with them. I had shown it to them and put it back under my seat. Several were in the back seat.
When they left, my gun was gone. Someone reached from the back seat, reached under me and took it. I was shattered.
